(CCR Original Content) Loki Episode Review - [Spoiler Free Review and Spoiler Section below picture] (9/10)

Loki: is a 2021 Marvel tv series created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron. It's produced by Marvel Studios with executive producers Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Tom Hiddleston, Kate Herron and Michael Waldron and distributed by Disney Platform Distribution. The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

During the events of episode 4, Sylvie tells Loki how she escaped the TVA when she was a child and they form a romantic bond. This alerts the TVA as it creates a unique branched timeline and they arrive to arrest them before Lamentis-1 is destroyed. While Mobius interrogates Loki and leaves him in a time-loop of Lady Sif, Sylvie unlocks Hunter B-15's memories to prove she is a variant as well and not created by the Time-Keepers. Mobius finds a recording of Hunter C-20 insisting that they are all variants as Loki told him and her being of sound mind contradicting what Renslayer said about her dying from a "mental breakdown". Renslayer confronts Mobius as he frees Loki from the time-loop and has Mobius "pruned" before taking Sylvie and Loki to the Time-Keepers. They order Sylvie and Loki to be deleted but Hunter B-15 arrives in time to release their collars and Loki and Sylvie defeat Renslayer and the guards. The Time-Keepers are revealed to be androids/robots when Sylvie beheads one of them and a recovered Renslayer "prunes" Loki. Sylvie demands the "truth" from Renslayer and a post credits scene shows Loki awaken, still alive somewhere with a host of Loki Variants around him.

This was another excellent episode that I couldn't wait to watch and find out what happened after the cliffhanger of how the show ended last time. I was really curious on if they would explain any of the other Loki Variants backstories as well. So Loki awakens surrounded by a group of Loki Variants comprising of Kid Loki, Alligator Loki, Classic Loki and one who looked a lot like Thor to me which was Boastful Loki. I haven't looked any of them up to see what their full backstories are/were but this was a cool start to the episode, especially when you see where they are in that opening scene/vista of this completely destroyed landscape. It appears to be the ruins of New York as Stark/Avengers Tower is seen in the rubble and there is a huge storm cloud in the distance looming ever closer. As Loki awakens Classic Loki informs him that this is the "Void" and that is "Alioth" and they are his lunch as they all quickly flee form the storm which begins forming a head and these massive red eyes out of the clouds and lets out a roar. Back in the TVA Renslayer forms a truce with Sylvie to find the person who created the TVA. Meanwhile Loki refuses to run any further without some sort of explanation as to where he is and what's going on. They explain to him that they are where the TVA dumps their "rubbish", everything they've ever "pruned" and Alioth ensures that nothing ever returns. Alioth, the storm monster, is a living tempest that consumes matter and energy, capable of devouring entire branched realities in an instant. This was a awesome episode my favorite part was probably Alligator Loki and all the Easter eggs hidden throughout the episode. What I didn't like was they gave very little in backstories to the other Loki's, well at least in my opinion. Still I give this episode a 9/10 and can't wait for the season Finale.

Spoiler Section Review:

So this episode was just excellent. It really got things going in a hurry with the Loki's fleeing Alioth. I really didn't like the interaction between Renslayer and Sylvie back in the TVA where they formed a light truce to work together and find out who was behind the TVA. It just didn't seem genuine in my opinion, which it winds up being totally false and that Renslayer was just buying time for reinforcements. I like Loki's interaction with the other Loki's though when he's fleeing Alioth with them and how they all take turns explaining things to him. They are all pretty unique and I wish we got more of the backstory on them but I'm sure there's plenty if you look it up after watching. I believe Kid Loki has something to do with Young/Next Avengers because people were hinting at something like that online but I didn't read up on it because I hadn't seen the episode yet. Classic Loki is Jack Kirby's Loki and his costume is the original so his story/timeline is probably the closest to the original comic and probably why he used his "illusion" magic more and didn't like daggers as much. The one I was more interested in, besides alligator Loki, was boastful Loki, who looked like he had a version of Mjolnir and looked more like Thor than Loki. We here him say that he acquired all the Infinity Stones in his timeline but are not sure whether this is just a "boast" or not. We also learn that the realm/planet they are in is Kid Loki's timeline and his Nexus Event was killing Thor. After Renslayer betrays Sylvie on their truce, Sylvie manages to "prune" herself and attempt to find Loki and winds up being rescued by Mobius who saves her from Alioth. They both wind up finding the group of Loki's, minus Boastful Loki who betrayed them for another group of Loki's they wind up fighting in Kid Loki's hideout. That scene was pretty funny and ridiculous because of all the Loki's and the amount of betrayals and double crosses going on. It was also hilarious to hear one of the Loki's scream when Alligator Loki bit his hand off. The group decides on a plan where Mobius will return to the TVA and Sylvie and Loki will try and "enchant" Alioth in an attempt to get past him to find out who or what is really in charge of the TVA. The attempt fails until Classic Loki creates a massive illusion of Asgard to distract Alioth, sacrificing himself in the process. Having now been able to successfully enchant Alioth, Sylvie and Loki are shown the way to the Citadel beyond the Void. Man it was super sad to see Classic Loki get devoured by Alioth but awesome to hear him say his catch phrase "Glorious Purpose" when it happens. Like I said before I give this episode a 9/10 and I can't wait to watch the last episode and Season 1 Finale.
